At a steady pace I'm hoping not racing up and a sharp braking.

Keeping your vehicle rolling is good practice and ecomical.

  3. On reflection, I realise I was a proper @hailfrank in my teens and early twenties, I had a series of hot hatches, wrote a couple off including rolling my brand new G Reg XR2 over and over and over before it landed on its roof and skidded sideways in my 205 GTI shattering the suspension and a few other escapades. Now, 20 years later, Im much more chilled with maximum no claims bonus, life's too short to get irate over something as pointless as another person's driving and petrol is too expensive to drive like a knacker 8)

  4. I have been known to stick my vw fingers up or poke my tongue out , but im old and drive slow and give way cause it makes them feel more powerful :p

    Silver Needs points/will pay!

Everybody makes the odd mistake whilst driving, just hold up your hand and appologise to whoever you have inconvenienced. If this is not enough....try another hand signal ;)
I am more likely to shrug off some idiotic driving if those responsible acknowledge their error. The arrogant t£$*s that blame anyone but themselves need behavioural correction therapy >:D

  7. aggressive driving just raises your own stress levels. I like smiling at someone who thinks you have been a ***** who is getting angry, when in fact it was them being aggressive, it annoys them even more. Holding your hand up when you've made a genuine mistake/misjudgement is good for both you and your victims state of mind too

  8. im aggresive when i see bad driving. like people not signaling. or people coming t a stand still to turn in to a junction.
people nit giving way on a roundabout. as yesterdaygoing into work, woman driver came right across with out noticing i was about to turn right into work, if it was n't for the fact i knew she had not looked were she was going.
and people texing while driving. you can see them doing it, more dangerous than talking on the bloody phone.

  9. none of them , i am A-totally boring in my driving mode B-i only have me bus so accelerate hard ? C-i"came to" the vehicle scene via motorbikes D_i"ve got 9 licenses 4 vehicles ,nowt would encourage me to do any driving other than my "bumbling along " mode i adopt which , as i move from the junction ,everyone hares past me ,so really i get plenty of road to myself, i lived and worked in London (truck driving) taught me to estimate journey time then add half time estimate on to origional sum> usually worked.Passenger(s) have said to me "not going very fast steve" to which i reply " try running at this speed then mate"

I'm a driving instructor so I aim to be smooth while I'm driving. If I get cut up by some ...... I justify their actions by thinking that maybe he's rushing to his injured wife's/Mothers/girlfriends/daughters hospital bed as they are really ill. It make it understandable why they're driving like a t... and I don't have to get all het up about it because I feel sorry for him.

What gets my goat is lorry drivers aggressively tailgating. Cas in point a while ago when they were doing the M25. Average speed cameras, narrow lanes, only two lanes, coned off contraflow and EVERYONE doing 50mph. Me a nice 2 second gap in front, the lorry behind me.....about 12 inches. What a complete pleb! and it's not an isolated incident with lorry drivers, seems to me they must be trained that way. Do they really believe a 2 or 3 foot gap is sufficient at 50 or 55 mph?

  11. I am usually quiet forgiving unless there is a Volvo involved in which case you deserve as much abuse as possible.

  12. I must admit tailgating really gets my goat.

But I'm guilty of it in a controlled I'm gonna scare the living poo out of you, kinda way >:D.if the oppotunity arises, not when moving above a crawl, but when the enevetable set of lights halts their skittle like progress, using the higher than normal driving position of the VW Bay I spot the gaps earlier and then pull up really close to them, I love not having a bonnet or front wheel in front of me. especially in the dark , you can totally dominate their cabin with protons from the very able if not dim by modern standards headlights with your bumper 4mm from theirs....I find I'm worse if my kids are in the bus, their driving could harm my children attitude kicks in.... I love driving my Bay 8)

Sandybay when you say lorry drivers i think you mean people who have licence to drive a lorry.

There's lorry drivers? and lorry drivers !

Big difference Bob and those people drift into the trade because they can't do anything else, we have em at our place, i wouldn't pay em in washers !

  14. I'm not aggressive more passive. I often find myself staring out of the side window at the view then catching myself and looking forward again, relieved I haven't driven into something.

Not in the van mind. I'm on it. I like the physicality of driving it.

    Tuesday wildchild I'm a circle!

Think a car parked on the other side of the road gives you priority over oncoming traffic so always keep going.

Yes I DO have right of way even when its on my side of the road but then I drive a white van and normal rules don't apply.

I like to put the peddle top metal on odd occasions when alone but for the most I like to think I'm thinking ahead of the dick in front.

  19. ok, ive got a class 1 lgv license , i agree with all your comments re tailgaiting(i dont) when im being tailgaited i gradually reduce speed, if its a truck its a pain 4 driver , getting back up 2 speed , they usually "get it" as regards how close in say traffic light q ? me? always leave enough space to pull round em if 4 any reason they cannot move off. think u can fail your lgv test 4 not doing so ? perhaps car test as well ? (told you all i am a seriously boring driver) thou i do love driving my camper !.
