trust me...if you remove the carbs and send them to Jones or someone else who does carb cleaning, small refurbs, you could either get them cleaned and do the service part yourself, or pay the extra to have them rebuild...theres not a lot to it, honestly...they just look complicated to the uninitiated... if a well known carb refurbishing company can charge a standard price of say £250 for a fully reconned set of twins, you'll understand that after parts, the labour's only going to be a couple of hours.
T The only way I know is to get a small barbed screw in tapered thread fitting and tap the carb. I note that after previously returning an empi carb that had a loose petrol pipe from the off, they now supply them like I describe (not because just I returned one I doubt!). Makes you think when you see a van fire...
Special glue is the answer you wanted but I don't know of one I'd trust soaked permanently in solvent (petrol).
Just read about knurling them with a file and then pushing it back in on vwresource so might just do that.
I'd be wary of knurling tbh...it could work (never tried it), but as you know, knurling creates a 'rasp' ....pushing a rasp into soft pot alloy is simply going to score the hole, rather than provide a fuel tight seal... a brake flaring tool would work...but i bet you ain't got one.... Special glue alert.... the carb gets warm but not hot, so an epoxy should be fine
