Anyone have an opinion on hot start relays

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

When I was an even lazier git than I am now I found I could negate the hot start thing (was always somehow after filling up with fuel when I was in the way) by turning off then immediately giving the starter a quick stab, not enough to restart. If I did that it never stuck.

  2. Got 4 relays in the noisy cupboard being set up.. two for fuel pump (one off starter with feed from 87a for the one switched by alternator), one for starter and one for live feed to coil.
Got fed up with rubbish switches not lasting...

  3. You don't need two relays for the pump this is how I wire them. If not using a tachometric relay, oil switch is preferred.

This is great, except sometimes it can take a fair time for oil pressure to drop on a cold engine. Try turning off the engine, then going back to the run position. The warning light eventually goes out, not as immediately as with a coil pulse relay or using the alternator warning light feed.

  5. What's the problem though? If you switch off the ignition you switch off the pump and you are going to be bumhole unlucky to have an accident when the engine is cold.
