What Dog is saying is, a "pretend engine" that hasn't been running for a hour or so filled with hot oil and petrol being pumped under pressure in a nice warm enclosed engine bay is a damn site harder to put out than a cold pretend engine that's had a bit of lighter fluid squirted on it......
Exactly correct and the point I raised. A hot engine with fuel squirting on it is not the same as a bit of lighter fuel burning on a cold bit of metal. The demonstrations are entirely unrealistic.

Does that not mean a foam one is even worse than they say as it cant cope with a bit of lighter fluid on a cold pretend engine how can it be better on a real engine fire
That's the question!

Looking at the video, the foam discharge looks a bit pathetic. The Firetec video I found does look like a better discharge, but it is really hard to tell exactly how it would work in a real situation. Foam is very effective at dealing with fuel fires, but obviously has to be correctly directed.
