At the mo I'm without work van to do my plumbing so am working out my trusty skoda or my camper v professional I'm sure! As I need a van and: A) I am a Scrooge B) I like old vehicles I fancied a C15. A lot of trades used them in Spain and I felt they were good, basic vans. Does anyone have any experience of them that can enlighten me further please? Thanks
They don't run on veg oil, the bonnets rust badly, the rear axle bearings are made of brie and the gear knobs are made of unobtainium.
Get a Bay Panel Van, extra kewl!!!! C15's are cheaply made, unreliable shiite, according to one of my employees who has loads of them, he breaks them to keep just one going.
Get a kangoo.....they look retro, and mine has 170,000 miles on it, but it runs like a dream. In the 8 years I've had it, ive only had to replace the drive shafts (because I put some 17" rims on it!) and most of the exhaust at different times......I love it!
How about a Morris Minor van? A fella in our village has 2 for his alarm fitting business. One is cream and one GPO yellow and have been nicely signwritten, they look great
Oh! That knocks out the Renault estafette then! My other options were T25 panel van, maestro panel van, Bedford little van, old escort van and old Astra van. I also contemplated old ice cream van but thought possibly a bit gimmicky and I may start to hate "Greensleeves"! More sensible is nissan vanette. I would like a big van but we already have my skoda, T2 and partners Hilux and Morris minor convertible so feel smaller van may make more sense
I've had a few citroens. Never had a problem. In fact I would say my favourite cars are citroens. Never had a C15 van though.
You hit the nail on the head, you not had problems, when you do with a French motor you know about it, lol.
C15...wonderful , wonderful van....I still miss mine! Bought it for £500, beat it to death for 3 years...on the odd time it went wrong a damn good kicking would usually mend it! Sold it without having to advertise it for.....£500!! Wish I had kept the engine and fitted to my narrowboat.. Get the full length roof rack (when the front supports come up from the wings...I think..) and it would look well cool....Plus you can get 1700 baths, shower enclosures, and sheets of 8x4 on it!! Go get one....!!
I think that unless you're prepared to pay good money for a decent, reliable old van (A40, mog minor etc.) then you're buying a heap of trouble for the looks.... I'd go with something boring (and 100% reliable/resellable) like a low mileage Transit connect...something that you don't have to think about...it's a work tool
We've run a 2002 C15 since about 2008. It's been very reliable, the only downside is the bodywork but that has not been too bad. It's had a little bit of welding underneath and the bonnet has rusted through - no big deal - I've just done a quick repair with metal mesh and will do it properly next year. There are a couple of rust spots on it but it's pretty good for it's age. The only other problem is the lacquer is peeling off, I don't know whether this is specific to red C15's or not. There's another one locally, the same year, and that looks in good nick. We'd certainly have another one - my wife loves driving it.
I rented Postman Pat's van. Maybe you could get one..... The Patmobile* To be fair, it allegedly did this on the A449 last night ** *copyright Moons 2014 ** a picture taken off the internet and not my phone
