Anyone got one of these?

  1. Just had this messaged to me and wondered if anybody used, had or liked these? Your views?

I have a similar one that's also pressure limiting.

  3. I don't really need the pressure limiting do I? I have a standard carb set up on mine but thought it'd be nice to have a decent fuel filter where you could see what was going on?

Mine's also metal, not glass so I can't see. Laurie had a bucket full of them and slapped one on to reduce pressure for my ICT's which don't like it.

  5. Could be a good investment. I'm one of the ignorant fools who keeps my plastic fuel filter in the engine bay. Curiosity over safety.

Only filter that leaked so far was a metal/glass combination on a friends car. it had rubber gaskets between the glass and metal which perished and leaked.

  6. Maybe a standard glass filter would be the way to go then or possibly just change the plastic inline one every couple of service intervals?

Plastic fine and they're clear and a quid a pop. What's not to like?

  8. I've got a metal one - look for the black metal filter in the fellows bracket on the far right of this photo:

  9. Looks neat, just trying to figure the pros and cons of something different?

The pro's are regulator and filter in one unit. If you need both it's an answer.
If you just need a filter a bit overkill but harmless? It won't hurt to regulate the pressure, it just won't help anything.

If you don't need it to regulate, I'd stick with the £1 disposable ones and just keep an eye on it.

  12. Been running them for years, (here in the States) mostly because I drive crap cars/trucks, the biggest problem is the gasket will dry out & leak if not maintained~ It will need to fastened securely away from heat.

  13. I don't know if you have a farm store near you- but I buy mine from a local farm supply store, they're used on old tractors with out any regulators in/on them. usually around half of the main stream parts venders.( they come in different sizes & shapes)

  14. ^this. If they're constantly crudding up, time to clean your tank out. They shouldn't need changing every five minutes...

  15. Thanks for the comments, looks like it'd be just something pretty without no real use so sticking with as is then

My 1800 fuel pump went on a Sunday morning on the day we were getting the ferry to Spain.
The only place open was the land rover centre where they had a massive fuel pump and a rally centre where I got the filter king like that, it was the only pressure reg I could get so I fitted it and its been on ever since.
Cost a packet but we got to Spain.

  17. I have one. My stock pump was putting out 7 psi and clogging my dells.
My filter king kicks that down to a healthy 3 and keeps the crud out.
