Anyone got a photo behind the dash of the fresh air control linkage on 72/73?

As per title really, put the linkage back into mine for the cold air front flaps, but something's not right, the travel of the blue control lever on the clocks seems restricted in that it cannot be moved to the fully up position.

Here's a couple of pic of what I've put in, any obvious mistakes in the setup?

  2. You may need to adjust the shaft that opens the flaps to give a bit more travel. Likely the air flap is fully shut before the lever's at the top of its travel. You can see the hexagonal adjuster poking out of the air box hole.

  3. The snottster speaks the truth....disconnect the rod from the lever, put the lever all the way to the top....physically pull the flap shut with the hex rod....wind the hex rod out so that the connecting rod will just about fit in the hole....try it again.

On mine, the lever 'feels' like an over centre latch, in that the flap shuts but the lever travels a bit futher to 'lock' it in situ...

if you have an early lever and late rod/bar, bits of either, or vice versa, it's a question of fettling and fine tuning

you could even try flipping the bar over, or spacing it out from the dash with washers if necessary...whatever it takes....

Thanks guys, Wanted to check I'd not got it wrong as its all been off the van nd not adjusted - I'd wrongly assumed that all was well before removal - as with most of the van obviously not!
