Hi. Has anyone on here got a 2.0 bay automatic thats will to post a photo to help me out please ? Im trying to work out where the plastic vacuum pipe goes when it passes through the rear part of the engine tinware The plastic vacuum pipe goes from the drivers side rear section of the autogearbox and connects to the carb but when i first brought my bay the plastic pipe was forced / squashed in the rear tinware and i cant work out what hole it would of originally passed though. I was hoping to ask someone at the Brighton Breeze but I couldn't find anyone with a auto !!
have you got the correct gearbox for your van? the vacumn was only on the 003 box which was fitted to 1700cc engines, i have a 2 litre auto but mines fuel injected and is an 010 box which is mechanical not vacumn.
Mine left the factory as a 1973 fitted with a 1800cc engine. Its recently had a 2.0 cj engine fitted using the existing gearbox. It may be a case of the rear engine tinware being incorrect in which case i will drill a hole in it and add a rubber grommet. Would just be nice to see where the pipe would have originally passed through.
if it's a 73 it's deffo the 003 vacumn box then so i can't help - supprised at 1800? i thought the 1800 was 74 on? eitherway @Lardy might help he has the earlier box.
Mines a aussie June (I think) 74 auto and left factory with a 1800 engine and is now a 2L CJ with progressive carb. Mine also has earlier box. From memory my pipe comes in from the left of the rear tin as you look at it, though I don't think I've got pictures.
It goes from the end of the balance pipe to the vacuum modulator, it helps with the gear change, it passes through the tin, the hole is close to the outlet on the balance pipe, as long as its not squashed it should be ok.
Whs ^^^^ The balance pipe that goes between both carbs has two outlets, one for the brake servo and one for the vac modulator. Have you got the correct pipe? I can't find any pics but will try and get one for you.
