Just in the middle of fitting KYB GR2 shocks to the front of my late bay.. The metal tube inside the top and bottom bushes are around 35mm long, whereas the OEM shocks I am removing are around 42mm long. I would assume that the difference in the actual geometry of the shock absorber will be negligible (i.e. may sit at a very slightly different angle), but in terms of the fixings, the bottom bolt tightens up to the end of the thread before it hits the bush inner tube. I could pack with washers I suppose, but is this right? thanks
My Gas-a-Justs that got delivered yesterday came with additional metal sleeves to pack out if necessary. Sure there's none of them in the box?
the only sleeve included is used on the top mounting eye to reduce the inner diameter of the sleeve to fit the (10mm I think) upper mounting bolt - still the same length, about 35mm. ??
I was going to say what Baysearcher said. If you fit to the top temporarily and let fall against the bottom stud, you'll see where to put the spacer so the shock fits without lateral stress. This helps the shocks last a little longer.
Thanks - all fitted now, but bus sits a little higher - wasn't expecting that by just fitting shocks, or is that 'cos they are gas so their default state is extended so they are always pushing upwards? or do they just need a good drive out - just took it round the corner and back. May need to knock the adjusters down a notch.
