Ah ok. So he did actually work on the cold water storage tank, in which case if it was full of dead sparrows and next doors cat there's a good chance when he drained it down it did drag a load of Marmite into the cylinder. That could account for the poor water quality. But it should clear after you've run a couple of baths. Monitor it closely and I wouldn't bath in it until you know it's 100%
Ok thanks. I've drained it dry and then let water run through it so fingers are tightly crossed for when Mrs T has her bath tonight. The radiator with the non replaced TRV and closed lockshield is also cold in the middle and bottom, so that's at least 2 radiators. I'll double check the rest. Pity you're not in the NW or you'd have a job here! The weather's good too so you could sell some ice cream as well.
I had a job once where some fibreglass had fallen into a tank and found its way into the whole system. That was bugger

We get so many more daylight hours down here that it makes popping down to Portsmouth a positive joy.
When said positive I wasn't talking about one of those itchy scratchy diseases of the gentlemans chipolata

no it broke down into tiny tiny fibres.i took out fill valves from 3 WCs and 2 shower heads and let the water run.meanwhile with a fine sieve cleaned the tank.it didn't help that the customers first language wasn't English. After two whole days I had got rid if most of it. As a thank you the customer gave me a home made apple strudel, the fact that it was frozen and shoved through my letterbox didn't deter her efforts.it was a hot day which help the defrosting and accounted for the mess on the carpet.
