sad what money does to people, when my mon died there was just enough to pay the funeral and sundry expenses...nobody fell out, says a lot.

  2. Sorry to hear about your circumstances @mkethef...it's a very toxic situation, and no doubt one which have lasting repercussions. Try not to assume that your sister and her partner are laughing up their sleeves, as this will cloud your perspective. Accept that your sister has aspect to her personality that make her behave in this way, but remain objective (easier said than done). If your Father's will has been lodged with the appropriate authority and has been recognized and validated, then it is legally binding. If your sister's execution of the will contravenes the stated wishes, then she is breaking the Law...cut and dried. In an ideal world, we'd sit down with our rivals and negotiate a compromise, but in your case, this doesn't sound like it's going to happen any time soon. See the Probate officer in person and take any documentation you have. Write down your grievances in a logical manner (times, dates etc.) or a bullet-pointed list, and have your questions prepared beforehand. This will help both you and the Probate to understand the situation more clearly.
Best of luck with it...you're in for a rocky ride, emotionally...keep things in perspective:thumbsup:

  4. Update,...sibling has now contacted her solicitor, who assured a measured reply within 14 days. Today was the fourteenth day and I have to solemnly announce that this country is now at war with germany, grr ! The local probate office were as helpful as they could be, couldn't do anything but gave me the address where I can get a copy of the probate, but I'm going to let the solicitor squeeze it out of her . I'm going to crack open cans of beers, cheers.

  5. Not seen this thread before - can't offer any useful advice I'm afraid, but good luck with it and enjoy your beers tonight.

  6. may be 14 days from receipt of the letter?
It won't work in her favour if she has no mitigating circumstances for being late to respond...
Enjoy your beers...don't mull it over
