Approached a height barrier into a car park at the weekend.....2.1m but i have a roofrack so i was edging up to it. My mrs says 'do you want me to check the height?' at which point a passer by waved me through and said i'd clear it. Drove forward and ripped the roofrack clean off the van. Gutters are a bit bent out of shape, as is the rack! The passer by promptly cleared off a bit live-oh, and i had to spend 20 minutes straightnening things out. The moral is.....regardless of what anyone else tells you, always check for yourself! lol That is all......
I know it roughly but with the lowering, a rack on and a load of camping gear it was an unknown quantity lol
Yeah i think i'm in the running! lol The worst of it was having to listen to the 'I told you so's' coming from the passenger seat afterwards.... Least my van isn't a shiny minter.....would have been well vexed then! the gutter damage just blends in to the look lol
When I got my 1st van my (now ex) missus backed me straight into the car port roof cracking the westy roof-rack.
Try driving into a multi storey car park with extension ladders on top having forgotten which vehicle you are driving! Not me guv- honest!
is it just me that even when you know it will fit, ducks INSIDE the van like it's gonna help? I also lean forward in the seat when overtaking so we get past quicker.....
Yup, on approach to a lay by (at considerable speed) which I had been in b4 and it had same type height restriction bar , as I went under bar the rebound from the dip in road right under the bar bounced my bus so much the little white coloured up side down soup bowl thingy on roof for fan protection was stripped right off ,leaving me miles from home wiv an exposed hole in roof, wot taught me the "high speed look at me/this" entry into parking areas are best left to the vertically challenged vehicles.
Once got picked up at Charles de Gaulle airport by my dad in a transit. He said hold on tight as he had scrapped the roof all the up the circular ramp roof to arrivals and all the way back down! lol
the ultimate i saw was in a multi storey car park in eastbourne arndale centre , some poser in a stretch limo went in up the straight ramp to second floor then forgot that the ramp out was a circular one , helta skelta type he got jammed in the curve of the ramp curbs and i think they ended up having ta get a crane ta lift him out , caused absolute caos
