Hi! A quick post to introduce myself - as I'm new to the forum, but old when it comes to bays! Bought our 1979 Viking (Bertie) about 10 years ago, and travelled all over on holidays with the kids when they were little - Spain was the furthest we got! Lots of maintenance along the way, bits of bodywork here and there and it never let us down once. (Noticed I registered with the JK forum back in 2003 - things change don't they!) Odd camping trips in the last couple of years, and then I took it off the road to fix the monster job - rotten Viking gutters! Did OK but then life got in the way - teenage kids, elderly parents, son buys a Beetle as first car, and Bertie was left alone..... Last Christmas we decided we needed to either move it on, or give it a second life and we'd use it without the kids, and as I'm posting here you can guess what the decision was! We've bitten the bullet, and Bertie has gone on holiday to a nice man who will bring him back to life (well body and paint at least!) The mechanics were great, so just maintenance there, but the downstairs of the Viking is going - a new interior is on the list. My son is already sniffing around about using it when it's done..... Will be on here asking daft questions again, but maybe with 10 years of bay ownership might be able to help others as well. Hope I can help! Second Time Around
Mad as a box of frogs - you will fit in well , welcome i should have learned by now my self but eh oh whats life without a bay to suck up all your spare cash
Nice one - great to see you didn't just give up and are giving the old bus a new lease of life plus you will be enjoying it again soon !
Thanks peeps! Would have liked to have finished it myself, but time is a struggle these days it seems, and then it becomes a stress. We're lucky enough (or hardworking enough - depends on your viewpoint) to be able to send it off to be done, and it's becoming exciting, rather than the drag it was becoming. Still lots to do though when it comes back!
Welcome back You find nothing really changes(does not included jk forum) just the names all the stories will seem familiar .
