WANTED Alternator cooling pipe

Anyone have a decent one of these?

I may be able to save mine but it looks pretty sad, the sealing ring into the back of the alternator is almost gone.

I may be paranoid but I'm not sure just how important this is, surley it doesn't get hot enough to worry about?

 

No it doesn't get hot, VW fitted it for a laugh. Take it off, your alternator will be fine for a couple of miles

 

Yep me too, but at £30 (ish) I'll probably fix mine!

 

Yeah, thanks Joker. I realised as soon as I pressed "post" that someone would point out that the Germans knew what they were doing

What I should have said is how critical is it to have a perfect seal!

 

I ran one for years repaired with a marigold

 

Is yours the later round (alternator end) or D shaped?

 

Pretty sure these are still available new, I know I bought one. Might have been from America though
