Alternator brushes

  1. Any body know where i can get a set of alternator brushes from ,
non of the usual parts suppliers seem to list them any more.

  2. If you've got a type 1 engine, they're an integral part of the regulator assembly. Never seen them sold separately (but I haven't really looked).

  3. White plate with three prongs that screwed onto the top of the alternator (three screws ), the brushes are on the underside .
Lift the whole thing out and bob the new one back in , takes seconds to change , but cant find a replacement set anywere.

  5. They are the wrong ones mate, these ones are part of the the small cover plate that the alternator loom plugs into,

i've got an old one in my garage if you stuck

  7. Cheers , its surprising how far the van will run just on the battery, there is a motor rewind / auto electrical type place in castleford, i will call in tomorrow and see if they can come up with owt.

  8. I assume you've got an external regulator? Internal reg, the brushes are all part of the assembly.

    edit: tried a Bosch dealer?

  9. 9-121-080-281 google that, is it the right one, about £25

  10. NO , Not the right ones but nice try anyway , called at a bosch auto electrical place and they are no longer listed
in the bosch parts catalogue , but they still have the brushes on there own without the carrier , so picked up a set for £2.71
and soldered them in ,as good as new .
    Thanks !
