Alternative servo & master cylinder

  1. I've currently got my front axle in bits and the shell on its side, so I'd thought if take the opportunity to upgrade with a servo (and pas steering but more on that another time)

My question is has anybody ever used an alternative servo/master cylinder? As I don't really see what harm it can do as they basically all do the same job.

Anyway, after trawling through eBay looking at some possibilities I've found a few manufacturers use a remote reservoir and think this would be the best solution. Some of theses include a 911 porsche (expensive though), mk2 punto! (Possibly not big enough for a van), Nissan Almera to name just a few...

I just wondered if anyone had done similar and if so what thy have used?

  2. There is a fellow (can't remember the company - have a search for threads on here) that sells a pretty decent dual-circuit remote servo. Bit of plumbing necessary, but you can bolt it on wherever you like. Looks pretty good.

  3. Cheers, I've looked at remote stuff as there quite easy to get hold of in the classic car world.

I'm doing everything from scratch so plumbing etc (or access!) isn't a problem.

And I'm sure the eagle eyed will spot its an early, hence the brake upgrades. :(

  4. Single-circuit remotes are easy to get hold of. I've only seen a dual-circuit remote advertised in one place (which I can't remember).

PS Nowt wrong with early drum brakes if they're in good shape ;)

  5. Great link thanks, should of thought about vwkd.

I agree but not if you plan on having 150ponies pushing you along and you want to try and reign them in ;)

Front discs and callipers already sorted, just need to make mounts for a servo while the axle is out.

  6. You didn't mention Extreme Power ;)
