  1. there was a post on "rear corners.. whos the best" which i was going to post in but i couldnt find it :S

anyway, when i started my resto & before i knew how to weld.. i got a mobile welder round to put on a rear corner, at first i thought he had done a good job.

I got the van out and turned it round last sunday, and its crap. there was a 1cm gap between the battery tray and corner. so ive decided to cut it off. i bought another rear corner off ebay (klokkenholm) for £15 and thats also terrible, neither of them will go close to the battery tray (original by the way)

so far.. im about £45 down on 2 corners and £30-odd in welding. so £70ish. and i still have no rear corner. before i waste any more money.. i thought id just go for a alan schofieled complete corner £175 but it will save a lot of time and effort body filling.

has anyone bought one before? they say genuine and they are £175. but on JK and VW heritage theyre over £200.
should i bite the bullet and get 2 from vw heritage or go for the schofields?

  2. Did you change the battery trays when you did the corners?

  3. sorry i didnt explain very well.. if looking from the back of the bus...

    both corners are cut off,
battery tray on the right is non existent,
battery tray on the left is there and in good condition and looks to be original.

i havent done anything with the O/S corner yet.
but the NS one, just needed cut off and replacing with a lower half, mobile welder did it and left a huge gap, so i tried to cut it and push it in, didnt work so i ripped the whole thing off in a rage. haha

They are a bit of a PITA 3-dimensional adjustment situation, but yes they can me made to fit and yes they are rubbish.

The whole corner is a perfectly sensible way forward, but I'd only use below the swage as it's another PITA welding and protecting the top half.

  5. yeah thats what im thinking, id only use what i need then try flog the rest.
have you used schofields corners Zed? im just wondering why theyre £30 cheaper each than any other site.

I don't know why they're cheaper, but there is only one supplier of genuine panels so they will be the same.

  7. Just had schofields corners put on our van, they were the ones that go half way up the rear lights, our man did a first class job (did we pay for it though), still it does look good, perfectly aligned and square...he said they went on ok ish, I suspect he did some persuading....

  8. nice one, ill give them a ring tomorrow and swallow the £350 bill. :(

  9. i dont suppose you have any pics do you?

  10. yes will do tomorrow when its light...

  11. nice one cheers. id rather buy the lowers if i can get away with it, aslong as they fit properly.

They won't, but with patience can be encouraged to. I don't think schofields make them themselves, the part panels are same as everyone elses.

  13. ooooooowwwww looks like im gonna have to swallow that £350 pill after all.

  14. If you buy the brazzilian corners and the brazzilian battery trays the fit is very good to be honest

Stay away from klockkrap panels you be better beating a washing machine case into shape with a bean bag and a house brick

  15. I went for the genuine rear complete corners from Custom & commercial. I think they were £204 each, I did look at the Schofield ones but wondered why they were cheaper! Lots of things say genuine but are they 'genuine Schofield' and not vw!

May be the same but could not be bothered finding out!!! Always seems to cost more if you try and cheat the system!!!

I've had a few rubbish panels so I'm buying all genuine or correct fit for this one! Costs more but just the saving on the labour of making it fit equals things!

  16. the only klokkenkrap panels ive had so far are the rear corners and they suck!
JK exclusives seem to be ok, and the few schofields panels ive used are quite good and need minimal fettling.

i can safely say i wont buy any more klokkenkrap

I'd be trying harder with the repair ones. You won't have much luck selling the top halves of the whole corners, so I wouldn't factor that in...

  18. If the corner you have fits ok apart from where it meets the tray then id spend my money/time fettling the tray to fit the corner
After all slight gaps between the tray and corner will be sealed/hidden when you seam seal the joint

  19. Hmm, ok ill start again with some more repos and see what happens.
If im matching the tray to the corner.. Does that mean i should put the corner on first, then the battery tray?
Because i thought the other way round would be better?

I think you do have to get it close to the tray for the flow of the corner panel to be right rather than bulge out which I've seen many a time. Mr. Blobby busses. I find the trays are too big width-wise rather than too small and it prevents the curve of the panel flowing smoothly putting the corner repair on. Not sure why you have a gap.
