I've been searching for an air leak on my 1600 TP. A quick look suggested the rubber boots and the carb gasket, but on striping down I found a lovely bodge on the manifold-head joint: Rather than bother with those expensive new gaskets, the PO had left the crusty remains of some of the old gasket on and nothing else. Think I've found the source of my poor running!!
