Air box>manifold vacuum connections

  1. Morning!

Just pondering....the engine I'm currently working on is a 1600 but the inlet manifold has a (blanked off) servo connection but no 'small' pipe for the vacuum take-off for the air box. In the past I've drilled and tapped manifolds to fix this but I've seen some photo's that suggest using the 'front' vacuum take off from the carb. Now, I've always blocked this off as I thought this was an obsolete pipe meant for a dual vac advance/retard dissy?

Also, this pipe is 'above' the choke.... is it 'man enough' to control the warm/cold air control flaps in the airbox? (it's a late plastic box....well it is now after I chucked the god-awful pancake thing in the bin and reinstated the airbox after clearing out the mouse nest!)

    Any thoughts?
