air box drain tube

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by earlylatebay, Aug 31, 2015.

  1. morning all.

does anyone know where I can source a replacement for the drain tube that takes the water from the airbox down and out of the cab?

  2. Do you mean the box at the front of the cab which sits before the flaps that are operated off the blue lever to let in cold air? If so then I believe they are no longer avaliable but @zed posted aomething up the other week showing how to use a washing machine hose in its place.

  3. Great. Yep exactly that. don't suppose anyone has a link to the thread by ZED? Cant find it.

Several things happen to these drains.
They fall off at the top.
They are temp removed at the bottom for welding repairs then forgotten.
They can look good at a glance but be split.
Someone welds up the exit hole then says la-la-la to themselves.
Technically, water should not get in here when parked, only when travelling with the flaps open.

Sorry, can't remember the size, I scrounged it from a kitchen equipment installer on site.

  6. Mine has a hole in it where it was "welded" when the front inner valance, deformation panel etc were replaced. So I need to replace it. Water is getting in. I think the seals on the flaps are knackered. Thanks for replying Zed. what washing machine hose did you use?

  7. The pic has just uploaded. So ignore my last question. Cheers Zed.
