advise on shocks

  1. Hi All.

I am going to be lowering my bus as much as possible without tubbing. I will also be narrowing the beam. The last part i need before doing the work is new front and rear shocks.

I am not sure on what are the best ones for this and what length i need to go for?

Is it just a case if buying ones that are for a lowered vehicle or are they much shorter if you are lowering a lot?

I have been looking at these.

But T2D recommended coilover shocks on the front.

    Any advise would be great.

    Thanks

  2. i have the KYB Gas Adjust Dampers (410-265mm) on the front. They're ok, pretty cheap..

I'd go with just some dampers first to see how you get on- you an always add coilovers later if needed and sell on your dampers.

  3. Hi Aaron,

There is only one real way to do this and get it accurate.

You need to lower the van, put it back on its wheels with all its weight inside, (so interior engine etc..)

Give it a good push (roll) about to let all the suspension settle,

Then measure between the centre of the top and bottom mounting point,

This gives a central measurement you can then pitch in the centre of the travel of a range of shocks.

This then allows for the most accurate way of ensuring you have a shock that won't top out or bottom out.

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers

I thought this was going to be another electric hook-up thread.
