Advice on oil temp gauge for a type 4

morning!
I want to fit an oil temp gauge for my bus and was wondering if anyone can offer up advice on which ones work well? I know there are various ones out there so experience from what you guys have tried/tested would be great

 

I have just fitted a VDO gauge . The sender is fitted to a replacement Taco plate . All functioning well .

The VDO sender will screw directly into the drain plug orifice. Since I've always drained mine via the strainer plate this seems to be the easiest option. Is there a downside to fitting it there. Anybody?

 

Yes, ideally you shouldn't drain via the strainer plate

 

And it sticks down ready to be smashed off.
