About time we had a watercooled section

All these posts these days of people wanting to do water cooled engine conversions, and questions when they have a problem, maybe its time we had our own section!

 

It was reading your post that put the icing on the cake of posting this thread - we have jested about it a while now!

Give me a break - its a sign of the times and things moving on - just seems silly having lots of posts and threads started saying exactly the same thing,just think if there was a separate section it would save everyone keep seeing threads about it and save everyone re posting the same questions.

If all this thread is going to do is cause ill feeling lock the thread - it was said tongue in cheek to start with but there is no need for nastiness - and you all wonder why women don't come on here.

I have nothing against air cooled - we didn't have the funds to rebuild the engine of the crew cab, a water cooled one was sat in the corner doing nothing and you don't look a gift horse in the mouth especially with all the other plus points its brought with it. The cost of a rebuild these days has gone through the roof and you have to weigh things up sometimes. We stayed VW and at anytime can go back to aircooled no bother or any other 4 Cylinder VAG Engine for that matter.

Everyone uses their buses for different things, what suits one won't suit another we all know that.

well said mrs b - after all how many of these vans are original - it's about keeping the van running, if that means scooby/golf or ford engine etc so be it.

 

Yep, good idea, even though ive yet to meet anyone else stupid enough to fit a Ford

 

@DUBious (long time gone) had a ford in his 1st van

 

Watercooled seeped into the JK forum and so it changed from lively to dead (well almost) as far as aircoolers were concerned...would be a shame if it happened here too.

 

I'm interested in your conversion...are you going to tell us how you did it and what conversion parts you need etc. can you do a 'how to' on your conversion.

Long term it's got to be the way to go.

 

This is it, besides our vans were made for a bygone age and are sometimes less that practical in today's traffic and the motorway mileage some of us put in which they weren't really designed for. If we were really that pure in our vans would we consider using electronic ignition or twin webbers?

 

I think there is a summary difference between the T4 builders van mob that were on there and those still running late bay's that happen to be water cooled.
