Hi All, thought I'd introduce myself before I start purging you all for your great advice (hoping to be able to offer some too as I learn..) We bought out 1979 late bay Freckle in 2012 on a bit of a whim and at completely the wrong time (maternity leave, baby due, financially still recovering from big wedding). I'm MK-Bays wife (sure he's told you all about Freckle)..... now back in ft work, we're determined to see our resto through and make Freckle a very happy looking bus once more... Though a hi top, which many can't abide, the truth is only a hi top will give us the space we need with 2 large dogs, a teenager (who never travels without another teen friend!), a 1 yr old and Us. So for that reason, I'm in love with Freckles head height !! Andrew (aka Mk-Bay) is a real whizz at electrics, welding, plumbing, engines, mechanics, carpentry (though he would never tell you that himself!) and my strengths are generally interior-related ( trying my hand at door cards, upholstery, design etc), so my job is to make our bus comfortable which as you can see from the pics will be a challenge! I've already received some fantastic advice here and whilst I'll be sure to ask for more, I'm really hoping to be able to offer some pearls of wisdom to others as I learn more... So if you think I might have stumbled across a problem you're grappling with please don't be too shy to ask!
Welcome aboard the good ship TLB, keep them pics flowing we love a good resto thread loaded with pics Did I mention we like pics?
Thanks All.. Sure to be posting lots of pics... Having to take loads as I take everything apart... Simply so I can remember how it fits back together(!) so should have lots of before / during & afters..
Nb... Anyone know if I can change my aviator name..? After the past week, decided to change her name (was Freckle... Now Miss-Terry-Leaks! )
Ayah.... Is photo bucket an app? I'm using my iPad after horrid laptop crash (bye bye 2 yrs photos incl structural refurb of vw!) any advice much appreciated.. Karen
Woohoo. Did it! Photo bucket here I come. Excise me for any errors her but here's (i think) pics of her original interior.... It was beautiful but we needed to rip it all out if we were to protect our investment from the red devil (rust) and although it looked lovely was pretty rotten and wouldn't stand any stead in an RTA so we've taken some drastic action... Just finding the right place to start our resto thread, pls take a look as soon as I let you know it's up and running
