A post repairs

  1. The lower 125mm of my A posts are both pretty rotten (no pics as i'm at work)

What would the pro's or people who have done this job already recommend, fabricate my own repairs or buy the lower repair sections from Schofields?

At £48 each they aren't cheap but is that because they are difficult to make?

As ever I want the quickest and easiest option but also want it to be a proper job.

    "Difficult to make" is subjective.
I would be completely incapable but others on here could make them in their sleep.
Personally, I'd buy the best available replacement.

  3. Depends on whet tools you have access to as to how easy they are to make.

A folder and a shrinker are my weapons of choice for this task

  4. Thanks, doesn't look too bad when you see it like that i.e. metal not filler!

My main worry was once I cut away everything on that corner that needs replacing there will be next to nothing left for reference!

  5. make cardboard templates before you cut anything out if you are too worried

...and plenty of pics and measurements

I bent mine using a hammer and a bench vice as they were only small

they would have been like a gift from the gods if I'd had them during the metal stage of my resto

    I'd still love a folder and shrinker/stretcher !!
