A post alignment - overhang, flush or overflush?

  1. Have Al Schofields A post repair which comes in much bigger section than VW used. Little bit if fitting needed but my question is on how much should the rear part stick out. I note it fits into a gap between the inner step and front wing - will need some work here too as slot is too narrow which made me think maybe flush is OK.

This picture has a 12mm overhang and runs well into the front wing

This seems better and is 7mm?

This view across the van is when it is flush - the lie to the door arch is wrong so I dont think this is right?

    7mm seems best....

Sounds about right I think. I found this pic of ours with the original deformation piece still on but a pillar repair which looks similar.
