  3. totally!

  4. Agree. Very happy with mine, although year 3 and one of the zips has parted. It's at the very end, so not a problem. I leave my roof rack on, and it comes with enough slack to leave a bike rack on too.

  5. Yaaay! Thanks for riding to the rescue. I’d never heard of...of...
    ...that kind of VW protector.

  6. 1. some say they keep the weather off and help protect your bus others say they trap moisture and rub the paint during winds its your call. nothing protects better than a nice layer of paint.

    2. https://tools-paint.com/discount-for-camper-van-clubs-41-w.asp they can mix to your original colour its brush able or you can use a roller. practice on some scrap first

    3. http://www.vwaircooledworks.co.uk/Fuel-Hose-Kit---Full-details.html this is the kit you want not cheap but cheaper than your bus catching fire. you will need to take the engine out to do the breather pipes behind the firewall.

    4. http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/rekeying-a-lock-tutorial.434/ iv gone from 5 keys down to 2. 1 for the doors and 1 for the ignition. hard to explain but the more you mess with the locks the more you have to wiggle the key at the right angle to get them to open. I decided to leave the ignition alone as I don't want to struggle to get it to start.

Buy a Haynes manual. Ask questions on hear and post pictures of the item you are talking about.

  7. breather hoses - did mine just with a length of fuel hose and some clamps, cost buttons and didnt' take long. I don't think there's a kit as such. the tricky one is up behind the spare wheel tub, but no special skills or tools required.

re-keying - i had several keys for my bus when i got it. i used dubkeys.com who were great - they supply the foils you need to be able to re-foil the locks yourself so they work of the same key, came with instructions which were easy to follow, took a couple of hrs to do incl removing, refitting the lock, swearing, tea breaks etc. several of my locks were siezed / stiff too when i got the bus, as above, just soak in wd40 and gradually work them more and more until they function properly. graphite is good as a long term lubricant (wd40 will free them off but will dry out). IIRC there's a thread on here if you do a search ref the rekeying.

I'm a mechanical numpty but managed both of the above with patience and a common sense.
