Does anyone know where you get replacement original style worktops? The chipboard has got damp and expanded and crumbled on a couple of them.
Replaced all mine with MDF, used the old ones as a template and re-used the hinges and catches. Sprayed them with brown, plasti-coat from B&Q which is a remarkably good match to the original and finished the edge with some plastic trim routed in. I think they look the business!!
The edges were rounded off to match the original, but had to use a black trim as couldn't find any dark brown. I will take some photos tonight when I get home and post later on.
Did they rebuild them in original looking style or did you go for a new look? (their website looks really high quality work, maybe a bit too good/expensive for my van at the moment!)

Pretty much as standard,but I replaced the useless little sink with a make up cupboard with a big mirror for the fair Mrs Fishtrousers and got rid of the near side wardrobe altogether and fitted a captains chair. It's huge in there now.
Look really good, did you also redo the cupboard door fronts or were these ok? Was it easy enough to rout the worktops for the edging? (never had a go at that before!).
The door fronts were ok and we have the use of a joinery shop so pretty easy for us, but you could do it with a T&G bit and a home made jig. Alternatively, there's loads of 'edge banding' in various materials and colours available online that you can apply with an adhesive or even just iron on, depends on the finish you're looking for. The plasticoat is just in rattle cans and we applied 3 coats flatting off in-between. Use your old ones as a template and you can't go far wrong, and if you do MDF is cheap as chips so have another crack at it!!
After a long time deciding what to do, how much to spent...etc I had the interior seats / upholstery done at the Camper Shak. (I'll post some photo's of this in another thread) They did a fantastic job and I would definitely recommend them. Whilst the van was there I asked what they could do about the old worktops (I can't afford completely new furniture just yet and anyway the old units are pretty good apart from the tops) They managed to come up with a new set of worktops which I think look great and have transformed the van into a really useable interior again. (couldn't use the sink or cooker before cause the worktops had expanded that much they wouldn't open fully!) They are a good colour match for the originals but rather than being manufactured from 16mm mfc with a brown plastic knock-in-edge they made them out of lightweight plywood with high temp sealed pvc edging. (only 14mm thick).
Is the Plasticote paint susceptible to scratching at all or is it fairly hard wearing? My units are in good condition, but I thought about maybe re=painting them something less beige.
Hello Mack, I'm sorry to open up this subject again but what thickness MDF did you use and where did you buy the plastic edge trim please? The worktops over the sink and cooker on my recently aquired Devon are missing and there is an aluminium U shaped trim at the back against the window and I assume that there should be a matching trim on the worktops that clips into it. Is this correct? There are also a couple of 'clips' attached to the top of the louvred windows, are these to hold the worktops up? The worktop/lid over the back locker is simply a piece of white Contiboard that will need replacing. The cabinets themselves are OK. Any other suggestions will be gratefully received. Many thanks.
Yes, some had a hinge but yours sounds like mine and the work tops have a aluminium channel that unhooks so the work tops are removable. You can just see the channel in the photo.
I use plastikote on top of my chest type fridge and it scuffs and scratches but it is used as a seat. On the worktops I used one pack polyurethane which is a hard paint but that too scratches. Formica is a lot harder and £200 an 8 foot by 4 foot sheet. Probably worth chiselling the old chipboard off the back of the plastic laminate on the old tops, clean up then glue it to new MDF or ply
