Stereo BNO - I'm doing the exact same repair on same side. I've got to exactly where you have as well. lol
This one was much worse than yours though with 2mm thick plate welded all over the place. The safety belt panel had swelled to 20mm thick of flaking rust, the bulkhead above and below just 15mm (I had the calipers out. lol All I wanna do is fit the front arch! Cargo floor/top-hats blah all gone. I tore a 1 ft wide hole in the slopey panel behind the cargo floor with one hand. back at it on Monday and it's going to get cold next week. :( Glad it's not my bus - at least I'll get paid. :)

  3. wow great work

it seem like only last year I was doing the same repairs to mine ........hang on, it was only last year (and still not finished :()

  11. very tidy

  12. Amazing work and progress

  13. very nicely done :)

  14. Thanks again for the kind words ;D

I decided to abandon my idea of waiting for an O/S outer sill to arrive in the country and use the combined sill/lower side panel instead. I'd have had to do repairs to the join between the sill and side panel anyway, and this way i know the seam can't rust again because it's fake ;D
    [IMG]

I cut below the floor but high enough to get rid of the surface rust that had been spreading up from the seam.

I butt welded the ends to make a nice neat join.

You can see it a bit better with some red oxide on it.

Also did the inner sill again. and the inside bit which i finished the other day

  15. Gradually making my way round the bus now. Next is the engine bay. There's some rot above the chassis legs where the skirt bit sits on top of the chassis.

Once the skirt is cut out, the bit that looked worse initially has actually gone right through so it needs to be cut out and a new bit welded in.

Cleaned up with the cup brush ;D
    [IMG]

    New bit welded in.

Then i ground the weld down and welded the skirt back in place minus the rotten top section. I'll make some plates up to replace the top bit.

You're winning I think. lol. I'm doing that side same repairs now + cargo floor and all the sills. I've got a few outer sills if you'd asked - I keep ordering them, then finding I need the panel you used. Got all the outriggers on, last 8" of all the floor supports, inner and middle sills on and the bulkhead and inner/outer C-post repaired. You do exactly what I do it's uncanny - I could have used your templete for my bulkhead repair. I'm not doing the engine bay though so on with the front arch and seatbelt mount repair on Monday. A post already repaired. 8)

It's a life  Bet you didn't work on Saturday!

Deluxe has a cover thrown over it so I can't see it. I need to to get this welding done and painted and interior back in and another one painted inside and out and re-assembled. Spring is coming and the customers will be getting restless. lol I'll find a week somewhere in there to get a bit further with the interior and another when they're done. I'm busy getting divorced and splitting the goods and chattels as well which is a bit distracting.

I set off to work on Saturday at 11:00am and the car said it was -12 so I u-turned through a garage for a bag of coal instead.

  19. Sorry to hear about the divorce Zed :( hope everything's ok.
Got a few bits more done, got some gas and some more gutting discs and finished the O/S engine bay bits which involved the sections above the chassis and a repair to the battery tray.

Then onto the other side which isn't quite as bad.

Other than that all I've managed to do is get a second coat of primer on the sills and weld up the seat belt mounts in the rear tubs. I've almost finished the bottom of the van and the rear now. just the front, the arches and some roof repairs to go. ;D
