Hi all, I’m currently restoring a 78 Westy 2.0L FI Back to factory and a complete newby wilh the FI system and would gratefully accept any advice regarding the matter and locating parts. Thanks in advance.
Most likely an AFM 280-200-020 (fed), ECU 022-906-201AG (CU-102-x). I have a complete 75 1800cc 6pin FI system but unsure if it will work on 2.0l engine?
I have 3 different sets of injectors all VW part 022-906-031D but Bosch #’s 280-150-114 one green and blue connectors also one Bosch # 280-150-100 pale grey connectors.
Lots of info on www.ratwells.com and www.thesamba.com both usa sites and give lots of info on swaps and setups. Did buy lots of spares from California in the past but be aware of import tax. I had a early 76 2.0 type 4 fi which was a 6 pin AFM and one less pin on the ecu, from late 76 this changes to 7 pin and extra pin on ecu. Good luck
Thanks, I checked out the ratwell site and Its the most comprehensive site I've seen yet. thanks again
I think I have an ECU from my 78 US van. It’s now got twin carbs. It had been converted already when I bought it. I will try and find it and the part numbers.
Thanks Merlin Cat I located one through the Samba site from Fuel Injection Corp (FIC) in California. It’s refurbished and no core charge.
Glad you found one, I bought a Bosch recon from California for about 70 dollars 3 years ago but its for a 75/76 so no good for a late76 onwards, still in my spares box but no longer own the bus. Going to have a clear out later in the year.
Thanks for the welcome, Would you or someone you know know the difference between the FI air plenums? I have 3 two with what I believe are fitted with EGR valves connected to the throttle body With internal piping of some sort and one without the valve and internal piping? I’m rebuilding a 78 FI (USA Federal) back to factory and can’t find any Interweb information regarding the two different air plenums... please anyone I need help!!!!
