I've got a '79 Cali import which has a handbrake warning light on the dash. It might also serve other purposes but not sure about that. Is this the one you're talking about? If it is then it could just be a blown bulb, or a loose/dis-conn wire. Had similar prob with mine recently (i.e. not working) so I took it out checked the wiring and the bulb, put it back together again and it was fine!! Maybe the bulb wasn't making contact properly but it's now as good as new. Try it - you never know! )
