  1. Looks great!! would love to do this to my pickup one day :)

  2. Thanks for all your kind comments ,
I'm on the home straight now hoping to have an MOT before the slough swap meet.
Got the engine built and ready to go in,
Then just need to finish off the cab, door cards, and carpet need to go back in.
I'm going to run it as is for now.
The load bed is solid but need sanding and painting, still not decided on what to do with it either go with the original hardwood runners or ply sheet or chequer plate aluminium.

  3. wood slates would look great dont ruin your good work now owen nw :praise:

  9. Hi can someone please help me please.
I'm not a VW owner, but I have a right and left drop down side panels for a T2 single cab pickup.
I located them for a friend years ago in France who no longer has a need for them.
They are in lovely condition having been lightly blasted and primed.
The trouble is I have no idea how much these are worth.
Can someone give me a rough idea as I might put them on ebay.
    They are located in Sheffield.
If anyone is interested then please let me know and they can go to good use rather than cluttering my garage.
    Thanks.

  10. The best bet it to put them on EBay with a reserve of what you need for them,
They are fairly rare but so are the owners so not that many bidding on them.

What do you need for them? Mine are pretty good but I might be tempted if they are a good price.

  11. Nealy there with the engine hoping to fire it up tomorrow now i have a new battery and rewired the engine bay.
also got the fllatbed sanded and primed.
been looking for hardwood slats(How Much?)
found the the 21 x 21 Quadrant bought a pine one from wickes just to check the size and really pleased with the profile. just need to find a supplier that sell 3 mtr lengths in hardwood at a reasonable price.
a friend of mine who fits wood flooring is going to get me a trade deal on some so hopefully wont cost too much.
some places want £10 a length and i need 15. hoping to get the lot for about £80

  12. hello fellow surrey bod! just wondered what you used to paint your pickup?? I'm doing a bit of a resto job on my doublecab next year and ideally I'd like to do it all myself. painting is something I'm not confident with so It's be good to hear how you got on. congrats on the transformation though, it's looking great!

  13. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

re: the quadrant - is that how it's done? No doubt you've already considered this, but aren't they going to be a water trap? why not get flat sections and fit to the tops of the metal profile?

  14. Mine has them in oak (i think) and it's done the same way as Daz has them. I think if they were done the other way, they could get ripped off quite easily. I know people dont really use the pickups for their intended purpose anymore but when I was using mine for landscaping, the lats do take quite a bit of abuse. having them on the ridges would make them a bit prone i reckon

  15. I did wonder about it Zed but the old fixing holes are in every other channel and after looking around a few sites it seems this is correct.
been concentrating on getting ready for an MOT.
had a quick drive today and all seems well the engine pulls good and strong and sounds sweet. there was a bit of a flat spot but putting the air filter back on has cured that.

just a few trim bits to do and fit a switch for the washers then were done.

  16. Bluething i use old fashioned cellulose paint. we get it from a paint supply place at Aldershot.
any chance i Can come and have a look at your wooden slats some time and take some photos im not sure about how to angle the ends i know the shorter ones have a different chamfer on them.
Over at my Dads at fairlands today he said he stopped and had a chat with a guy in a DC with wooden sides near Merrist Wood guessed it was you.
