  1. Help! I have 73 and require a new indicator switch due to kids being over zealous!.... trouble is everything on line(as y'all likely know) is either for a low light to '72 or 74 onwards and both are completely different.. seen one on via an old thread on here at the VW museum or something but 160 euros. can anyone help?

  2. They seem to be a bit hard to come by, I bought a NOS one on ebay for £50. I got £50 for my old untested one. @davidoft might have one :)

  3. yeah not kidding... I looked on ebay but nowt currently... not sure how to contact @davidoft as frankly sh*te when it comes to this sort of stuff! Cheers anyway

  8. I sent you a PM yesterday regarding a NOS one for sale.

    Cheers

  10. I was in the same situation....have you tried repairing it? You can twist the clips on one side of the switch and get the mechanism open. Make sure you do this carefully as there's lots of very tiny bits to lose! It's pretty self explanatory once you get it open.

    I managed to get a few extra months out of mine before it totally died a death.

    Whilst I sourced a genuine replacement I fitted one of these to keep me on the road;

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/331719758554

    It needed some jiggery pockery to get it to work but it's reversible (doesn't require any permanent modifications) and works. I used the horn function for the flash/dip.

    Basically removed the indicator mechanism and wipers side. Clamped the new one in position. Traced wires and cut off ones not needed. Crimped on new spades (non insulated) to match vw ones.

    To attach the wiper side I needed to make some small tabs for the bolts and used small nuts to secure. Other than the mechanism being exposed it doesn't look out of place. It's been working find for several weeks now. If you want a photo then I'll post one up.

    I did this as my van is my daily and I need to keep it on the road. I'll fit the proper switch at some point but this is s possible solution.

    thanks!

  14. Stripped apart as easy but the plastic quadrant is cracked.. easy to glue but holds spring in tension and just splits again..thanks anyway

    Had a look mate but I must have sold it.
    I've got a wash/wipe left though.

  16. I've got one sat here with the same wee crack in the plastic bit, I've just had to fork out for a '72 only one and that was £80!!! The one I have here was attached to a spare column. I think looking at it it would be fairly possible to weld the cracked plastic :-/ might have a bash at it

  17. Can this plastic piece not be copied. Then 3d printer type thing ???

  18. probably..looks quite intricate though and not sure if worth the hassle!
