  1. Hi all,

Seen a splitty I like, so may be parting with my bay..

It's a 72 late bay with prototype bay bumpers/badge, 1700 type 4 engine with brand new twin carbs (professionally tuned).
Mostly original paint with no rot, very original bus with loads of very interesting original features (like the original dealer sticker on the sun visor with the guys name on it!).
    came from Sweden in 2007
Loads of history from Sweden & the UK, always garaged and never goes out in the wet!
Mechanically excellent (as far as I am aware) and drives absolutely spot on,
Disc brakes with servo, so stops fantastic, no wandering in the steering, gears spot on, professionally tuned up.
Sumatra green - think its had a new sill, battery tray and plate in the cab floor, part from that I think it's all original paintwork (and still very shiny as it's come from Sweden!) - the work was done about 7 yrs ago to a very high standard and you would not know the repairs had been done except for the paintwork not quite matching. The gutters and sides of the bus are arrow straight and you can see every spot weld in the gutters with no rust whatsoever.
Retrimmed interior with full width seat/bed, buddy seat and unit/drawer.
Lowered and currently running on polished empi 5s.
    cd player, rear seat belts.
MOT'd till September 2014 and free tax.
As I say, got it as a keeper but liking the idea of another split too much.

Here are some piccies, not the best and they are older piccies before I fitted the wheels/bumpers and cut the paint on the sills in a bit better!

As far as a value on mine, I was offered £9500 for it last year which I turned down as I couldn't find a bus as solid as mine to replace it with, so it would have to be £9500, no offers.

  2. No-one want a solid van thats not full of filler or rotten as a pear?

Matched the paint in nicely now but having trouble uploading photos onto photbucket account.

  3. Supernice !!

  4. ok - need to either get this split straight away or keep mine, so £8500 for 1 week only - if it doesn't go this week I'm keeping it!

  5. put the original bumpers back on! (and sell me the modded front one). Good luck mate lovely looking bus.

  6. Ha ha!

Not really sure I want to be selling it, but thought I'd give it one last push and see what happens!

  7. ah mate sorry to see this, such a nice bus! you fancy swapping suspension before you sell it? ;) so is splitty ownership better than bay ownership? your last splitty was soo nice!

  8. Hi Brucieboy - bot really sure why I am after a split again - I just know that if I was to buy one then start driving it I 'd be thinking 'why did I sell my bay to buy this, the bay drives so much better than a splitty, but think it's form over function!'.

Think I'm keeping it - every time I go in the garage I give it a hug and I'm not sure I really want to part with it - maybe the wife would let me buy a splitty as well?

Wife, wife, come here a sec, i've got something to ask you.....

Haven;t you got that bus lowered yet mate, come on...

Wouldn't mind lowering mine a bit more, but don't think I could go much lower without taking the anti-roll bar off and not sure I want to do that?

  9. Yeah get a splitty as well! I know mate, it's just so damn expensive to lower it! I need heating too do I guess that's above lowering on the importance list! It's all I can think about though lol :(

  10. OK, keeping this now.

What size are your spotlights Brucieboy?

Want to fit some to my bay but some look too small and reckon yours look about right.

Know what you mean about the price of lowering the bus - luckily mine was done when I bought it, but can;t understand the price of dropped spindles - think they are around £500 odd for bus ones, but only about £100 for beetle ones? I know bus spindles would have to be a lot stronger, but 5 times the price?

  11. exactly mate, its excessive, but i desperately want it lowered so I dont have to climb into it, just low enough so i can slide my ar$e in lol, theyre about 5.5 inches in diameter with slightly domes lenses, and I have the plastic lens covers somewhere too, I have found a link for them here just scroll down to WIPAC CHROME SPOT LIGHTS http://simmonites.com/spot lights.htm

id do you them both for maybe 30 plus postage? ill polish them up for you too before sending, I just need to see what the deal is with the wiring, but let me know if youre interested, I can send you more piccies too if you like!

  12. ok so just looked for different prices and seen that its pretty much that price for the pair new, I thought it was just for one, so call it 20 plus postage?

  13. Think i've found some mate, slightly larger at about 7 inches but thanks for the offer - why would you want to sell yours, they look ace on your bus?

  14. im after a cleaner front end, im going to try and move the number plate onto the bumper or hang it below and maybe move the spotlights just to clean it up as I have an idea for some over riders and thats it, then hopefuklly when lowered it will look nice and clean :) the missus likes the spots however so may lose just one or hang one from the underside of the bumper...photoshop will be key to get the look i want lol
