3m scratch protection anyone?

  1. Having had van recently painted and whilst still in garage till I do some hammeriting and waxoyling underneath, I noticed the new paint chipping quite easily on door edges etc. More so than original paint.

Now I know this hasn't had 40 years to cure and harden yet but it got me worried about stone chips on front when I eventually bring him home. I'm in the process of getting a quote for some clear 3M vinyl scratch protection for the front but was wondering if anyone had used this (or similar) and thoughts on it. Or any recommendations in other options?

    Thanks

  2. We used to use this at bike repair centre, if we're talking about the same product.

It is a good product, we covered nose cone and fairing to stop stone chips to freshly repaired / painted bikes.

Only thing the fitter recommended was to get it properly fitted as it can be a pain - that said, it may be easier for diy application now as it was a few years ago.

  3. Yeah think we are on the same product. Getting vinyl sign installer to look at it. Last thing I want is bubbles trapped ha. Was wondering how it weathers compared to paint.

  4. Apparently it weathers well, had bike into us that had it on for a while and was still "invisible"

    1. My mate is fitting some to a Ferrari 458 spyder for a dealership in Exeter.
    2. They swear by it.
