3 Way Fridge Not Lighting

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Owen Snell, Apr 17, 2016.

  1. As per title, the 3 way fridge in the Puck won't light. It was working, but has been out while doing some wiring behind it, now it won't light.

Looking through the inspection window, I can't see a flash when trying to spark up, but can't remember if this is supposed to be visible or not? Will try and bleed it through some more, but wouldn't mind any ideas on what to check before it has to come out again.

  2. Is it level

Condensation forms in the draught/exhaust tube that runs vertically up from the tiny burner.
This causes rust, which drops down onto the burner & blocks it up..especially if the fridge has been moved.
Take it out, blow air through the burner & it's little tube. Poke it gently to remove all the debris with a small brush etc.

Whilst it's out make sure the spark can jump the gap, it may need adjusting as per your spark plugs haha
Pop it back in, let the gas run through for a few seconds & away you go.

make sure the dials are on the correct setting for lighting or it'll never light!

This should be done every 12 months for caravan fridges ideally:D

  4. Just been out and it sparks and lights!

I had been leak testing the pipes with some suds, so maybe damp on the igniter button? The exhaust had been disturbed as well when the fridge was out as I re-sealed the exhaust vent at the same time. Anyway, it's in the shed so I shut the door and turned out the lights so I could see what was going on and it's got a nice blue flame.

Funny you should mention debris as when it wouldn't work before, I took out the bottom vent and a spoon, a rag and some other crap dropped out. Then it worked!
