1979 Holdsworth Camper

Discussion in 'Introduce Yourselves' started by Jörch, Aug 18, 2012.

  1. Hi there,

my name is Jörg and I recently bought this Holdsworth Camper from a guy in Berlin:

It wass running very well on the 220 miles home to Zwickau.

Unfortunately, it is pretty rusty an the interior smelled musty.
I had to disassemble the interior so that the moisture had a chance to go away:

Meanwhile, the furniture has dried ans seems to be in an acceptable condition.
Next step will be to remove the pop top and start planning the required bodywork.

    It will take some time...

welcome to TLB - looks like you have a good project there.

  4. Welcome along. Mine's a Holdsworth and I love it. :)

  5. Thanks for your greetings!
The bus will indeed be a load of work. I've owned three buses before of which one is still mine.
This one is the first that needs welding to get back on the road.

    @MaBlimey:
I just love the simple but solid technique of the rock and roll bed.
The pop top and the interior are just great! :)

  7. Jorch where do you buy replacement panels over here? I'm still buying all mine from the UK and getting them posted as it works out a lot cheaper.

  8. hiya , nice looking wheels you got yourself,i lived in Germany during the 90"s and loved every min. of my time there, thou i thought your mot(tuv?) was/is well ,? " tight?" >>> loved the beer supermarkets !(who wouldn"t?)

  9. Hi Bay_abroad,

as this is my first project which needs bodywork, my experience is limited and I can just repeat what I've heard from others.
There are several dealers who sell parts, like http://der-shop.heiterweiter.com/index.php?cPath=35_40, http://www.busteileshop.de/index.php?infoBox=0&cPath=1_41_5&osCsid=561203083b65de68e2d7cc69b63dee2e, http://shop.hoffmann-speedster.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/2024_2306 etc.

And then there's Andy, who is said to make great repro- parts: http://www.vintage-steel.de/epages/62613022.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62613022/Categories/VW_T2_196779/Karosserieteile

See you also at forum.bulli.org ;)

    EDIT:
Hi Skintagain, thanks for the compliment! The TÜV has not changed since then. (the supermarkets haven't either :))
I'm still far away from getting my "mot" here - still too few metal between the holes...

  10. Jörch,

Many thanks for the links, unfortunately meine Deutsche ist nicht so gute so I hadn't managed to find all the suppliers over here. Vintage-steel looks extremely promising and my bus still requires a lot of panels!!

@skintagain where abouts were you in this fine country, it's the beer and lifestyle that makes me want to stay.
