  1. ciao!
after almost one year my bay is on his way to come back from painter..
(paintere took very easy but now looks really nice...)
In this time i rebuilt the engine and made other details ready to reassemble everything (i also made body work for my Split but this is another story... if you are intreasted check my signature).
Soon will be time to fit interior....
I assume i'll leave cargo area free from original seats and will made a bed using rear hatch and building a ply storage in front.
I almost already decided to fit some natuaral fibre carpet fom madmatz into cabin (and maybe remaining cargo area..) but i still not decided how to myself
    door panel
    and
    roof...
....any suggestion about meterial and colours or photo or "how's to" is welcome
I whish to do panels and roof myself.... but i never did before.

i uploaded some pictures of my bay, engine rebuilding, new color here....

just read through your photos, lovely colour choice, great shine to it!

  3. thanks.. i passed through mouse gray and bright orange and also sage green/mexico beige like this
    [IMG]
... but at the end the original L63h sage green won.
I took only the licence to paint the tintop in pearl white (L90D) while the original was all sage green. Pearl White is really amazing color and with sage green is really perfect...

  5. hi my project is now on the road... just completed the ceiling using FOREX board.... P1060028small.jpg

It is PVC expanded board used for advertising panels... is white and very easy to cut (3mm you can do just with cutter).
I fitted using a j alluminium profile and few screw... take a look to my pictures on my picasa album

  8. for "our" vans, sorry!

  9. That's why i wrote my post... It's a new solution.
Now is time to fit e rock n roll bec with hinges made from vw heritage.

I cannot find out anywhere a plan with correct size for panels for a bay window...
If any of you have ... Please snd me!

  10. Great work that headlining looks great :)

  11. The headliner looks really good, how big are the headlining sheets, did you do it in one piece?

  12. Looks great just wondered if it was breathable as if not could there be a condensation problem above it?

  13. No it isnt..
It's like any other mdf or hdf board from this point of view but it is better because completly waterproof.. very lightwheigt and of course ready to fit .. No paint no cover...
Above it i fit a layer of acoustic thermic insulation 10 mm closed cell (it is dark grey in one of my picasa album pictures).
I didn't mind too much at brathable attitude because i will use only in good season and not for camping in cold wheather

  14. I only ask as I was going to use leather and advised against it as it wasn't breathable! It is also heavy which might cause it to sag!
Your van looks great! Well done! :)

  15. ..... here the mesurment i used to cut panles at correct size

    Front panel 135 X 95
    Central panel 135 X 117,5
    Back panel 135 X 118,2
Rear panel (upon rear portion - hatch springs) 95 X 22,5

Front and back panel need to be trimmed. 2/3 cm on each side in front and back in order to follow roof shape.
To retrive the correct size for trimming i get a stripe of same material large 10 cm and long 135 and used it to retrive exact shape and lenght.
I bought panles pre-cut ..... it took two evening to do the job... and around 100-110 € in material including J shaped alluminim profiles.. (2 mt X 4 pieces and 1 mt X 2 pieces) and screw.
Mesure will work for other metrials too in 3/4 mm thincness like hdf and masonite or faesite etc etc

note: before fit panels i covered and glued roof metal arches whith white vynil false lather..
