I thought you were right the first time, late ‘72-‘73. Mine certainly has a mix of bits, some from earlier. I lose track, I was only 9 or 10 at the time!
Edited by the numpty If you have the same van as that I can say with certainty it wasn’t made before August 72 or after aug 73 It’s the 73 model year bus as I said in the first place with a So72 interior, it you have one made before then it should have the early bumpers and low light indicators which they stopped producing in July 83. Best model ever IMO
73 model year was from sept 72 - sept 73 mines identical ...and it did have white headlight rings that are actually brass
I had the same model year but a Devon. same colour too. I know a chap in Rotherham who has had one from new and it does look as though its just out of the factory. Albeit as its never had any paint , the colour is a bit flat. But it is 100% original with no signs of rust even underneath. He told me that every day he spends 30 minutes and polishes just one panel. That one would be £30 k . He had photos showing him on holiday in it in Spain in the 80's but hes in his 80's now so stays local. A 1975 though . :- https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/original-1975-devon-rotherham-show.28900/
Thanks for all replies everyone, it's very helpful. Will have a chat with her soon and pass on comments. At least she has it garaged up country away from the sea. Looks great underneath. No rust. My own bus, 1970, has more filler than metal
Wouldn’t a 73 model be made from August 72 rather than August 73? I ask only because my M plate says August 73 build but 74 model, and it’s a full Late Bay not cross-over (sliding door lock separate, no petrol flap, pop up cab door locks rather than ‘in handle’ etc) or am I getting the wrong end of the stick? Lovely looking RHD Westy though
Yes. I need sleep and read up on my own findings. Soz all night I’m being a proper numpty again today
Looks like your van’s number plate is now on a Black Audi; An undignified end, to find itself on an Audi. (Were New Forest Herbs down near Exbury?)
I meant the month I know full well the year of production I was being a complete numpty for some reason. You will have to forgive me
Ah, yes - Matt Dixon probably. He moved on to Exbury, renamed the company slightly, and is now back in Boldre in the same place but a different name again. I'll ask next time I see him. Pink?? *sigh*
