What can I say? Needs must and I need the money. :-( Freddie the SA bus is up for sale. Bought by us in Johannesburg three years ago, driven across SA and imported and registered by us. Lots of history and all the paperwork, rot free Crossover bus, physically in good condition, painted back in the 80's and still looking ok. No hidden issues with this. Interior is absolutely all standard, even the original radio (still working), ambulance step and folding seats all there and untouched. It was a School Bus back in Joburg and we know the original dealer! No welding needed or done. Mechanics:- Good bits: 2056 LVH Type 4 engine with twin Webers, expensive electronic ignition, new heat exchangers, Vintage speed stainless exhaust, etc etc. New clutch, newly built BEARS 6 rib box. New brakes all round. New Avon tyres. Bad bits: Gauges not wired in yet. Servo has just packed up, I have a new one but not fitted it yet. Brakes still work fine. The engine and box alone cost nearly the asking price and this is a RHD SA bus. 10 months MOT, drive it away. Located in Burford. Price to TLB peeps £9995, goes on eBay in a while at £500 more! Check out all the photos they say more than I ever can. Shed loads more available if you ask.
A deal will be done on this and the Eriba. I have been dumped head 1st in the Shiite, needs must, at least I have a way out that doesn't involve a free (but quite restrictive) holiday at the taxpayers expense.
Hard to tell by the photos and without looking close up, but that seems a bit too cheap. Not good to hear you have to sell.
That's what I mean, looks great. Be a shame to sell it too cheap but I suppose needs must unfortunately.
I ought to mention the engine was dyno'd at 128 bhp. Pulls like a train. If I was keeping it, I'd change the exhaust as I don't like the VS one, it pops on the overrun. Starts and runs/ticks over nicely, freshly changed oil and filter. Slight leak from the oil pressure sender. I'm being 100% honest here, you get to hear it all, the good, the bad and the ugly. It's not a 20-30 grand show bus but I'm not asking that money either. Good solid useable bus with no shiny, shiny paint covering a myriad of hideousness.
