  1. hi guys,

i have for sale a 1971 1300 twinport project beetle that needs some love and attention and a fair bit of tickling from the welder!

I have also listed it on ebay but happy to sell to fellow late bayers who fancy taking on a challenge.

If you want to buy it i am after offers around £700, don't be shy, i will take offers but sensible ones please or sadly i will break it to get my money back on it.

heres a video of the engine running for the first time in 6 years!

Here is the full description as taken from my ad:

1971 beetle which requires a fair bit of restoration. We had bought this car purely for the engine as it was running a nice 1300 twin port that i needed for my 1978 bay panel van, but a change of plans and a possible new engine for the van means the beetle is now being sold absolutely complete as you see in the pictures above.

It has been in dry storage since failing its MOT back in 2006 on welding & brakes, but the rust must have gotten hold of it quite badly as it would not go through an mot now in a month of sundays!! the rear end looks pretty good, the rear quarters seem solid as does the rear inner wings & even the heater channels don't appear really bad. But please note i have not looked around the whole car properly, i was just after the motor, there is rust in the front end mostly.

The engine fired up first time of asking and ticked over a treat, no smoke or nasty rattles.

What i can see is that it needs some of the floor and front of chassis (maybe frame head) sorting out as its pretty rotten, so probably a body off of the pan job, but i will leave that up to you. Its all there and looks original, it has been loved in its life as it was treated to the metallic green paintwork you see before you, though it was originally blue. The interior is fair, the seats are in good condition and the headlining is good except for around the sides of the rear window where its missing and torn. It has the original steering wheel in great condition and an empi shifter which looks hardly used.

The wheels you see pictured are wide 5 porsche 356 style chromed steels (with free rust!) fitted with adapters, the tyres hold air but are a bit cracked so do not know their true condition.
I have the V5 here to go with the car, but no other paperwork or service history, sorry. The chassis number is clearly stamped on the centre tunnel of the chassis and everything matches.

So there you have it, a complete beetle which needs a damn good sorting out, certainly not a weekends work so please don't expect an easy resto but again i leave that completely up to you to come and have a view and decide for yourselves. If i don't get what i want for the car then i will simply break it for spares and make my money that way, but it really does deserve to be restored and be put back on the road.

Any questions please just ask, we are located in crossways, just outside of dorchester in dorset. You can call me on 07412 715189 / 01305 854828, email vwbusbits@hotmail.co.uk or message me through here.
