I've dug my old beetle out of a 5 year slumber in my mothers garage so will have a few questions for the technical chaps. Can i run the 1641cc motor on a standard 1600 carb ? Whats the best way to set the ign. timing with a 009 dizzy ? thats it for now.
simple answer is yes, and read this although I'd recommend using a Vac/mechanical dizzy with a stock carb TBH You will also need to make a mark on the crank pulley that corresponds to 30 before Top dead centre...this will get you started 009s like to be between 27-32 degrees of advance Here's another useful link
Thanks vanorak. I'll read those fully. Good info there. I would prefer a vac dizzy but for now its got a 009 and its fitted with Petronix ign. Funds are tight for this car. Camper is still No. 1 (for now)
