The funny thing is me and zed were talking about reskinning them with my old skins and he was saying how easy it should be. I don't think I will bother I kinda like the neat little patches Sean did.

The surface area needs to be connected to the hot bit nd BB'd would restrict the air flow.
They did insulate the T4 exchangers, but inside. Silver foil and the wadding stuff

I have read about people wrapping them in heat bandage.

  12. I bought a decent quality set of repros (when you could still get them) and had them acid dipped at a strip a door place for free.
I then took them to a local Nickel platers £10 each, and then had them powder coated £20...they are excellent....
But, I'm interested in DIY ways to improve stuff and I think lagging jackets would be fairly easy to make for box standard repros...
Trouble is the exchanger is subjected to some pretty extreme conditions and will always attract condensation after use....so any insulation has to be either bullet proof like ceramic coating, or serviceable like a hot water tank jacket (which was discussed a while back.
There's plenty of people who could stitch up lagging...these could be held on with stainless clamp banding....I'll do some reading and post my thoughts....would make for a good accessory

  13. I was thinking some foil insulation with a couple of juberlee clips...

It seems to me that if you did that, unwrapping them a year later would produce a pile of rust and a good view of the fins.

Yeah i think we came that conclusion last time we spoke about it.

  16. it's a bone of contention wrapping headers etc. some say do, some say don't....only ever done it on a motocross bike and that was fine for years. Stainless exhausts should be OK I would've thought. Just found some suitable stuff to make jackets for HExs...bit spendy mind, so maybe look into getting in touch with the manufacturer rather than the retailer...say it's for a prototype;)
I stuck a link in general forum entitled goodies galore 'cos the company do loads of useful stuff

fitted them today. Took her for a 3 mile run, defo warmer and warmed up faster than the repros . Not as warm over 3 miles as I thought they could be. Still warmer than the reros though!

You can get exhaust rope specially for the job of insulating, used to have asbestos in but now fibreglass, often see it on vintage cars and motorbikes.

  20. Hey Malc, as you would not cut your new heat exchangers in half for the love of The Late Bay :D I will send you some exhaust heat wrap (proper stuff) you wrap one of them. See which one drops to bits first :)
