  1. im gonna be building uo my engine this week ready to fit the weekend and few questions i have 1st off were do i get the feed to fuel pump and were is best to fit it cheers all !!

  2. I'd take it off the +12V feed to the coil via an inline fuseholder.

  3. was thinking that the same as the carb choke and reverse switch and what size fuse u recomend !!

  4. Its main attraction is that it's convenient :). As I recall, the feed to the coil is 2.5mm2, so reasonably hefty. Stick an 8 amp fuse on it to start with: must fuse the pump, as if it goes pear-shaped, you don't want it burning the ignition wiring out.

  5. My fuel pump says 5amp current draw, so I'd say 8 is a good start.

  9. Good thinking. Don't want your pump running after a shunt.

PS Seem to recall that older Fords used to have a crash switch (I assume a ball bearing in a switch) that shut the pump off if you were involved in a collision.

  10. you want to try to keep the pump as close to the tank outlet as possible but make sure you fit a pre filter before the pump.....another handy device is a fuel shut off valve. you can get fancy and fit a solenoid if your fitting twins (to prevent siphoning) or you can just stick a manual valve in somewhere...before the pre filter allows you to change without draining off the fuel, after the pump but before the carb allows you to fit another disposable filter before the carb...and if you're serious about it....think about fitting a fuel water separator...works as a serviceable 10 micron filter and is good for vehicles that may be laid up with E10 fuel in the tank slowly absorbing water...
