12v charger for macbook recommendations

  1. am looking for a 12v charger for a macbook. i've found some but in my experience the cheap stuff often doesn't work and i'm sick of wasting money on it.
    any recommendations?

can i do this from a leisure battery as well as charge phone, fridge and play the stereo or is that asking too much?

  2. don't they? i guess i'll be charging most stuff while driving, but would be nice to be able to sit in the camper with a light on watching a movie on the laptop while on the phone (multi tasking) :D

  3. mine's an old macbook , don't think it's a 'pro'. guess i need to find out which one it is :/

found it, it's a macbook 13" 6.1 is it too 'old' to find a 12v charger for?

  4. The charger I linked to is a Magsafe one. If that's what your Macbook uses (I've got a White Unibody A1342 Macbook) then it's the correct one. It's only the power output that you need to be aware of. Even then, if you buy one that's too powerful, it automatically switches down to the wattage for your Macbook. I have a 65w charger, I think some early Macbooks used 45w chargers.

  5. As BB says, you'll need to check what connector your Macbook uses. The Magsafe ones are, not surprisingly, the ones held in by a magnet: you can yank it out by pulling on the cable.

Better to have an adequate wattage rating for the charger than too little. The Macbook controls how much current gets through to the Mac battery, so you won't damage anything.

Macbooks are super-duper, BTW. You have to cut my arm off to seperate me from mine.

  6. thank you! i've ordered this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00BEKALPY/ref=pe_385721_37986871_pe_364681_36330151_item

i love my macbook too but slowly but surely it keeps developing hiccups. if it runs out of battery it resets itself on power up to 1960's! summat o do with the pram? i have students who help me with that stuff :)

just need to get interior lighting bought then the auto sparky to put me in some 12v points. it'll be a home from home :)

  7. Another alternative is to take it down to your nearest Apple store for advice. I've always found them fine, not geeky.
