  1. Having issues with beetle so robbed sdva out of camper, bought identical new one and it started earlier but turned off and wont fire. Have fuel but couldnt check spark as was on my own, guessing module gone bad. Will try points dizzy I carry as a spare but I know these acuspark are budget but original has lasted 4 to 5 yrs no issues.
New dizzy is identical but 180 deg out and when it ran the position of dizzy was no where near original position
What is purpose of black spacer under rotor magnet ?

On plus side found fuel hose from advanced solutions needs replacing. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. I've just come to the conclusion I'm selling my bug it's a mixed feeling tbh someone could be getting joy from it and using it.

Edit no idea what the spacers for

  3. The 'spacer' contains the magnetic pick ups that fire the electronic ignition.

  4. ^this. The "spacer" has four rod magnets in.

Did you redo the ignition timing?

  5. Wont fire up , will rob magnetic part from other dizzy and try, as said both dizzys in different orientation which is also not good.

Sounds like the distributor isn’t located properly to me.

Have you checked the drive dogs on tje distributor actually are lined up with the distributor drive, and that its fully home?

Another thing you can do is spend all your time stamping on the pedal to start it so that when you do get timing right, its flooded.

Fit a remote starter, and crank it while rotating the distributor, ignore backfires...
When it runs then check the timing.

This way you wont flood it.
