Have recently just bought 1.700 type 4 engine and gearbox , but the gearbox is a 3rib ? My question is , is the 6 rib the gearbox that should be with it ....or was it just for the 2.00 ltr

  2. 2 l only. 1700 has a three rib with very slightly longer gearing as std.

Not sure, 1800's had a 5 rib gearbox

1700 - 3 rib. Great combo, less torquey than it's big brothers, but goes and sounds great when the revs build up. :)

  5. Apart from the noisy cruising - 60 mph = 3,750 rpm which is not very easy on the ear for any period of time.

Mine wasn't noisy at all cruising at 60. The gearbox was though.
