    hello to everyone,

can anyone tell me if i can put a 2.0ltr aircooled engine into my bay instead of the standard 1600? and, if i can is it easy or do i need to do a lot of alterations?

    cheers

Yes you can, nice if you get a complete 2.0L with all tinware, HX, engine bar and exhaust system. Even nicer if you can get 091 gearbox. :)

  3. It's mor trouble than it's worth. You do need the gearbox too as the ratios are different and as they increased the get go power they also installed servo brakes so you could stop it, so you'd need those as well. Why not just enjoy it as it is as many do?

  5. The gear box is a bolt on procedure ,make sure its matched with the engine 6Rib 2L 5Rib 1.7L etc.

The bus will get heavier so you have to raise both rear sides one notch cause otherwise it wont look nice.

You have to remove and replace the heater lever cables all the way from the front to a 2.0L style.

Up to the starter wiring is simlpy the same.

If you are going to use an electrical fuel pump you need to alternate your wires.

Also your wirring at the engine compartment needs some alternations too, relay for the blower, etc.

    Is it worth it?..I moved back to a T1 from a T4 and I am happy,more than before when I switched from a T1 to a T4.

Why don't you put a Porsche injun in? it's only 4 bolts - bloke down the pub said innit?

(sorry - old forum joke you had to be a member for a while....)

  9. Any future engine work on a T4 motor is so much more expensive than a T1 engine.

You'd be better off up-rating the type one engine. A friend of mine is building a 1776 from bits and bobs and new bits. It's come in at about £800 once she sold her bog standard 1600 SP. You'd have to pay nearly that just for a T4 exhaust system.

T4 2l engines aren't all they're cracked up to be - strong and good at low revs but not so great at revs. I prefer the 1700 version. ;D
