I can’t wait for the following characters to have male actors: Mary Poppins Jayne Ayre Dorothy from the Wizard if Oz Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City Clarice Starling The ‘Bride’ in Kill Bill Dana Skulley I feel each will be a far more rounded representation of today’s society. I mean Gone With The Wind would have been far better had Scarlett gone to war and Rhet Butler stayed at home.
Fair play to Marvel and DC, none of their female characters wore skin tight or non existent clothing, were in their early 20’s and weren’t overly athletic. No way were they merely developed for one hand shandy action by pre and post pubescent males.
I know you’ve set your sarcasm factor to stun, but the point was badass female lead characters. Why those actors were chosen for those roles based on the way they look isn’t the issue. These pair don’t look like a box of frogs either...(so I’m told)
The characters were drawn that way years before the actors were chosen. It’s a moot point tbh as we agree that each female character was kick arse, where we differ is that the comic book enterprise was progressive before its years when you had one (highly sexualised) female character for something like every 30 male ones, many of whom were mutated or disfigured. I personally think that the positive discrimination thing still needs to be a meritocracy.
Actually I agree, I should have said ‘Marvel has been redressing the balance regards badass female lead characters, but has a way to go to redress the objectification of women. And needs to promote more ropey looking female leads on par with men.’
Genius idea Snots! Mrs Overall as M! “Roight 007, your mission is to eliminate Blofeld, but first, ‘ow about I make uss a noice cuppa and sum of moi delicious ‘ome made macaroooooons? “
