I’ve just been in to the village to buy fish and chips for myself and dad for lunch. I know having a fish and chip shop itself caused a few raised eyebrows initially I can tell you, but worse has happened........ they’ve started selling gravy!!! Last time we went in they most certainly didn’t, even though sarah told them all chippies should have gravy. I’d already ordered them heard a lady asking for gravy, a quick check of the menu board confirmed gravy was not advertised. As I’ve now become brainwashed I found myself asking for gravy and they did indeed have it. What is happening? If Brexit wasn’t bad enough, now these strange Northern ways infiltrating Cotswold villages, what is going on?!!!
Fortunately the Cotswolds get progressively more "northern"/normal the further south you go ... Gloucester is well cosmopolitan innit and our local chippies near/in Stroud have long since offered the full compliment of condiment, so I think house prices are solid
It works the other way too. Our local chippy here in deepest Yorkcestershire has Falafel and butternut squash chips.....we’re all going to hell in a handcart!!
I’m amazed @CollyP hasn’t been along to tell his favourite Yorkshire gravy story, I think most of London know
